Welcome
"" In 2006, thanks to the Student Union Initiative, UW-Madison students voted to renovate Memorial Union and build a new, larger and better south campus student union.

This new “green” structure will be a gateway to the south campus and link to Camp Randall as well as offer students more meeting and activity space, more amenities such as a convenience store, multi-use auditorium and more dining options.

Union SouthAccording to the initial timeline, the existing Union South will come down in spring 2009; construction will be completed in summer 2011.

Meanwhile, design sub-committees are conducting research and gather input and feedback from students and other stakeholders to help us prepare plans concerning the nature of the building, programming, services and activities for the architects, who will be hired this fall.

John Barnhardt“When Memorial Union was built in the 1920s, students led the way. We’re doing the same now to ensure that future students can enjoy a fully functional, renovated Memorial Union as well as a modern, environmentally sustainable new south campus student union.”
—John Barnhardt, 2007-08 Wisconsin Union President
